Monday was the rescheduled Town Hall meeting concerning the state of the Fort Worth music scene at Printed Threads. It was a very well-attended event, and it was great seeing so many people come together and actually care about what is going on in our scene. This is audio of almost the entire event, we left midway through the Q&A due to previous commitments, but the presentations by Brendon Anthony and Tom Martens are here, as well as an introduction by Mattie Parker. Enjoy!
Now for something entirely different. A few years ago Dustin came up with the idea to do a series of podcasts going through different artists’ greatest hits records while the boys are on road trips with each other or their close friends. Matt and Dustin recorded an episode late one night while driving home from SXSW several years ago and it got deleted somehow, so here is the resurrection of the series with its very first episode and super awesome guest host Jim Vallee, aka, DJ YoJimbo! We recorded this while sitting on the banks of the South Llano River in Junction, Texas a few hours after the Annular Eclipse passed over our heads. I hope you guys enjoy us knuckleheads going through this collection of Van Halen tracks and giving our approval and disdain for the tracks contained within it.
The boys are on the road to see Amon Amarth and Ghost at the Toyota Music Factory in Irving. If you are a fan of when they are on the road just talking about whatever comes to mind, then this is the show for you! And it’s full of all sorts of antics.
This week we were live from The Cicada in the lovely southside of downtown Fort Worth. If you haven’t had a chance to come by and check out The Cicada yet, then you are really missing out. Tyler and John have taken what was once the home of Main at South Side and turned it into a warm and comfortable environment that is great for just kicking back and having a few drinks. It is a beautiful bar, that is quickly becoming one of our favorite places to hang out. Since this was our inaugural live show we invited our good friend and local comedian/podcaster Brian Breckenridge to join us. Brian is no stranger to that room or the stage having hosted many events there in the past. It was a fun evening getting to sit down and talk with him about what’s going on in his life and to get to the bottom of these new wild Texas Ranger City Connect jerseys. The whiskey was flowing and in true JJTM fashion, things got a little wild.
Thank you to everyone who came out, hung out with us, and abused the crowd microphone to set us straight in our ways. And thank you to Tyler and John for letting us muck up your fantastic room for a few hours this week. Hopefully we do this again next month!
Here we are, 500 shows over 500 continuous weeks. No big celebration, fireworks, hookers… nope none of that. All we need is a couple of good friends and a giant bottle of eggnog, the rest is magic. But to be honest, with this week being Thanksgiving, it’s a weird week to throw a giant celebration for our 500th show. Most people would rather spend time with their family than see our dumb faces, so for now, we’ll leave it at this. Our friends Susie and Matt came and hung out, with Matt bringing along a gigantic bottle of eggnog. It didn’t take long for it to take its effects, and audio gold was captured!
Thank you to everyone that has listened to us and been a part of the show for 500 episodes. Who knows how much longer we will be doing this, but we appreciate everything you guys have done!
