Show 177 – Goodbye Sports Cry With STG

Matt and Daniel from Southern Train Gypsy stop by this week to say goodbye, or is it really the end? Maybe just a extended hiatus? We get all the answers and the low down on what made them decide to hang it up and go out in a storm of fire and fury. Unfortunately Stubb’s is out because he lost his nose to a Saigon whore (more on that next week), but his seat is filled by the one and only Nick Russo from the band Duell. Nick tells the tale of his time at the Fort Worth Pep Rally over the weekend, and an intimate evening with Lord Tracy at Gas Monkey Live. We briefly break down the recently released Dallas Observer Music Awards Ballet and point out everything they got wrong, including leaving a certain award winning, nationally recognized podcast off the list. And Richard tells us about his Alumni SoFar show and we look forward to this weekends Art Goggle.

Show 112 – The Phantom Sensation in the Temple

For the second week in a row we have had a packed temple, and for the second week in a row the show has been chaos. The greatness of The Phantom Sensation joined us in studio bringing their style of black grass along for us to check out. We with them about their upcoming tour, their upcoming demo, the YMCA, super churches, and if 24 inches is indeed too much. Matt feel off the wagon, hard, Dustin had a death in the family, and the Eagle did a local show.

Show 111 – In Memory of Man Enter the Temple

This week has been a particularly crazy week for the JJTM boys, so the decision to release Tuesday’s show a few days late was to hopefully allow the previous KMFDM episode a little room to breathe. But in taking the extra time to edit this episode we’ve come to the conclusion that almost every band on Do For It Records is completely nuts. Like, straight jacket crazy. In Memory of Man is no exception to this discovery, these boys are rowdy and fun, and exactly what we need after this long weekend. This episode is crazy, chaotic, and a little bit all over the place, but was a whole lot of fun to do.

Show 110 – KMFDM Doin’ It Again

Sunday Matt and I got to sit down with one of the got to sit down with The Kapt’n, Sasha of KMFDM as they rolled through Dallas and played Gas Monkey Live. If the big four of thrash/metal are Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth then the big four of industrial/electronic music have to be Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, and KMFDM. I have been a huge fan of KMFDM since my angst fueled years in junior high, and I’ve been fortunate enough to hangout with the band the last few times they have rolled through North Texas. But on Sunday we spent 10 hours at the venue, hanging with the band and road crew, watching the inner works of a complex live show. The episode is a little chaotic because shortly after we started the interview, the tour manager came by and needed the guys for soundcheck. So we did a little mini show with Matt ‘Robotuner’ Thomas and as soon as soundcheck was complete, Sasha joined us again to finish it out. The second half is an absolutely fascinating insight to the world of KMFDM, the bands history, and life on the road with family. I really hope you guys enjoy it! -Dustin

Show 109 – The Dangits and Mike D

The Dangits join the boys in studio this week and talk skating, sharks, motorcycles, and punk rock music. They also help Dustin figure out a situation he got into on Saturday at the douche lounge, The Whiskey Garden. They also discuss the purpose of the upcoming Podcast Movement and how much they enjoy ripping fellow podcasters off. Dustin’s Macbook Pro explodes and Matt is still sober. Then we are joined by a super secret special guest, Mr Mike D as he tells us about his travels on the road with Aerosmith over the last few weeks. Another week of pure podcast gold, or not.
