Show 158 – Convoy and a Cattlewoman

IMG_3679

Tyler and Sheridan from Convoy and the Cattlemen joined the boys in the studio this week along with good friends Rebekah and Jason. Dustin tries to drive the show under the influence of Benadryl and whiskey while Matt tries to save the show under the influence of painkillers and whiskey. The entire room tries to knock out a bottle of Special Forces Whiskey, and by the end of the show, Sheridan has to drive us all home. Jason recalls his march up and down the Katy Trail as he participated in this years Carry The Load event. Matt throws out a promise for next years Carry The Load event. Tyler and Sheridan fill us all in on the upcoming Convoy and the Cattlemen record, dive bars on Division, and how much fun it is for them to write together. Most importantly though, we must all remember that Memorial day isn’t for wake boarding at the lake with your bros.

Convoy and the Cattlemen have several shows coming up and you can check their catalog here. They are also a part of the next Jerry Jonestown Massacre presents, July 29th at Lola’s:

Show 157 – Moon Grave Cooter Dip

FullSizeRender-1

After a long wait Moon Grave made their way into the Temple of Eye, along with a very good friend of the show, Rebekah from I Happy Am. The boys breakdown Moon Graves new album Vance, the fun summer they have ahead of them, and the parallels they draw from Mean Motor Scooter. A record might have been broken with how quick things got shocking and over the top with Matt and Rebekah both relaying a dream in which a black mass tries to strangle them and then sits on their chest. Dustin never made it to Austin but took more pictures of cheerleaders. Dustin also asks if anyone in the room would do nudity to be on Game of Thrones. Cooter Dip makes it’s debut! We have royalty local royalty living among us in North Richland Hills, and finally the boys discuss some of the most expensive tickets in Dallas during this concert season.

Check out Moon Grave on Facebook and Band Camp.

Show 156 – The Spectacle That Is Mike D

DSC_1833

This week our good buddy Mike D paid us a visit and dropped some big news.  He has been asked to play bass again for a certain band…We also discuss Odor, The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, The Cure, Torché, transgender bathrooms, elections, Between the Buried and Me, local metal musicians anthems, and Jessie Fry’s new video for Big Bad Wolf. We delve into the archives of Come on Feel The Metal for this weeks show music. We unsuccessfully attempt a phone call to a certain pitcher, discuss the final days of Rubber Gloves, and thanks to Alex Jones we have now heard the most insane audio ever recorded.

Show 155 – The Dangits Doing It Again

IMG_3543

For the third week in a row, this show comes under attack from mother nature as she released more fury from the skies, trying to stop us from doing this thing we do. In the process it made this weeks guests, The Dangits, have to fight through traffic, rain, hail, and wind just to make it to the Temple of Eye. But once the Mark and Branden made it over, everything became correct in the world. This week we discuss in no particular order: The Dallas Stars, The Confounded photoshoot, The Bearded Lady, stupid people, mother’s day, what is hated more then Trump, Budweiser, Captain America: Civil War, Gene Simmons, Axl Rose, and of course everything that the Dangits have been up to!

The Dangits have a show coming up on 5/19 at Three Links in Dallas with CJ Ramone. Then on 5/21 they are playing with Mean Motor Scooter, Supergrave, Erik Chandler Band at Lola’s Saloon.

You can find more out about The Dangits here

Show 154 – Robby Rux Enters The Temple

Robby

We aren’t going to lie, the boys were quite distracted this week as Robby Rux joined them in the Temple of Eye. The Dallas Stars decided to schedule game 3 against the St Louis Blues on a Tuesday night, when quite clearly they shouldn’t have. We would like to believe that the players were to distracted by missing this weeks JJTM live that it effected their play on the ice. But the show went on, and Robby was an interesting and cool cat. Robby and his wife Jennifer started Dreamy Soundz up around 2008 in their home in the Fairmount District. Today it has become Dreamy Life Records, that includes a record store and Cloudland recording studio. The boys discuss what motivated Robby to create a studio and record label, what he looks for in bands that approach him, and what the future holds for the Dreamy Life empire. They also break down Ted Cruz and if he is the Zodiac Killer and if his dad really killed JFK. There are two new festivals on the horizon and one of them are in our backyard, and what are the 100 best music venues in America? And of course Radiohead takes over the internet.
