Show 164 – Dallas Unity With Special Guest Dante

Dante

We have often said that this show is a form a therapy and away to release and express how we feel about things going on around us. After the last week we had here in North Texas, we needed to take a little bit of time to let some steam out. AND THIS ONE GETS HEAVY. It’s also a little long, but it’s really hard to cram in everything that has gone on in the normal length of our show.  We are joined by our friend Dante to get an idea of how things are in the African American community after the events in Baton Rouge, Minnesota, and Dallas and to get his aspect of what it’s like raising a family in a climate where the people sworn to protect you can’t be trusted.

For those that wanted out wrap up of the Fort Worth Music Awards, that show will be coming up later this week. We felt it was more important at this time to talk about the tragedy in Dallas, and what this might mean to our future. Please remember we are just two guys talking out of our ass most of the times, so if you get offended with anything we say, we’re sorry in advance, WE ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS.

Special thanks to our friend Dante for coming in and hanging out!

Show 163 – Tony, Tony, Tony, Has Done It Again!

IMG_1557

Local myth Tony Diaz drops by the Temple for another round of aural torture, and also to keep the propaganda machine of the Panther City Exchange rolling. Tony talks about the Wondercrust Movie Watching Club and offers the boys a chance to be part of one of the upcoming shows! This will ultimately lead to a power struggle and stand off between Dustin and Matt and create a rift in the JJTM, and lead to their demise…not really. Tony also hints at at the upcoming Arts Goggle event and the always fun, and one of our favorites, The Fort Worth Rock Assembly. This is a really laid back episode that sorta bounces all over the map, so strap in and zone out!

Show 161 – Sailing The Seas And Looking For Booty With John and Sallie Rody

IMG_3848When pirates were doing their thing and plundering the Caribbean, they normally did it with the help of a fine spirit called rum; so why should that be any different when our two favorite local pirates, John and Sallie Rody, stop by the Temple? Yes the Kraken was released from it’s bottle and made it’s way down into our bellies as we talked and laughed on this extremely radio intensive episode of the JJTM. It’s not every day you get to hear tales of the high seas and the plundering of booty from a living legend that just also happens to be a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame…ok, well maybe you do if you pull up a seat next to John & Sallie at Shipping and Receiving, but I digress. The boys talk with John and Sallie about97.5 KTFW The Southside Pirate, the inception and the future of the station, all things booty box, the days of A&R “gifts”, KZEW The Zoo and the future LaBella and Rody were creating way back when, and of course they all drink more rum.

For the past 3 years Matt and Dustin have been talking about and interviewing musicians and bands from all over North Texas. If you have ever wanted to get a good snapshot of what the music is like in the DFW area and live outside of the reach of The Pirate 97.5fm, then we highly recommend you tune into them on the web and listen to the stream at www.soutsidepirate.com. It’s always up, 24/7, even if a tornado takes the antenna!

Music this episode was from: Huffer – High Hopes and Tied Ropes, Henry The Archer – Why Can’t You Hear Me, and Shaolin Death Squad – Death On Two Legs
