Cults, Beerfest, The Me-Thinks, and a fist. That’s how we sum up this weeks show after our guest had to cancel after being flown to California for work. If you like when we just sit around for a little bit and shoot the sh!t over whatever comes to mind and whatever rabbit holes we fall down, then this is the episode for you. So buckle in, and get ready for one hell of a show and an award winning ending.
Hip hop artist Jake Dexter joined the boys this week in the Temple of Eye to promote his brand new release The Call Room. The boys talk with Jake about his past, the bands he’s worked with and produced, and the creation of The Call Room. If you are a fan of hip hop, and more importantly, hip hop you can play for your mom, then definitely go check out Jake’s work. There’s also talk of the Austin Moon Towers for the third week in a row, a trip to see Bon Jovi, and the demise of Facebook.
To find out more about Jake and to keep an eye out for upcoming shows, go here to his website or Facebook. The Call Room is available any and everywhere you might purchase or listen to your music.
We get it, you like to listen to podcasts and have asked us to do a little more here and there. So, Matt and Dustin head out to the Between The Buried and Me show in Dallas and wrap up their SXSW trip with an extended look into Day 2 and the New Nashville Riverboat Showcases. Plus there’s some interesting podding from the Yellow Rose in Austin.
We will be live in the studio next week with Jake Dexter in studio.
Powered by vodka, craft beer, and adderall the boys headed south with their JJTM Austin Branch Producer Jeremie into the heart of South By South West. With a little less then 48 hours to accomplish a grocery list of objectives, the boys began their Thursday evening at the Thrasher Vs Vans Showcase and ended 7 stops later at the Yellow Rose, then got up early on Friday to host two cruises for the New Nashville Riverboat Showcase on Lake Lady Bird in Downtown Austin. This show is an audio hodgepodge of insanity, and isn’t the best of quality at times. This episode also has it’s own drinking game; whenever you hear Matt or Dustin say the word “So” take a shot. You’re guaranteed to wind up with alcohol poisoning before the end of the show!
Thank you to Jamie Kent, Magic Hat Brewery, Shine Your Heart, Uomo Di Pace, Indy Music Sales, and Bose for having us along on this adventure. It was a fantastic day.
John Pedigo and Chad Stockslager made the pilgrimage from Dallas to the Temple of Eye this week to sit down with the boys and talk about their latest release Pedigo’s Magic Pilsner. John began writing the album as a homage to his father after who used the family’s kitchen sink to create an undrinkable beer called Pedigo’s Magic Pilsner. The name carried over to his father’s bowling team where it saw a bit more success then it did as the title for a beverage, but now the name lives on in glory as both a band and this self-titled debut. The conversation revolves around the history between John and Chad, their background in other bands, the creation of this album, and the ideas and concepts behind a few of the songs. Dustin makes the bold claim that this is his favorite album of the year and contains one of the best songs he’s heard in a really long time. So the bar is set for 2018!
