Show 196 – Lonely Goth Pop Princess Jessie

untitled-27

It’s Valentine’s Day and we were joined by fellow black heart and good friend Jessie Frye. The boys open the show with a silly bit from long dead superfan Peter Steele and his request for Jessie. They talk about the weekend string of Brutal Juice, Spectacle, and Mountain of Smoke shows in Denton and Fort Worth and Dustin talks about his trip to Austin for a photoshoot and his literal Downward Spiral on the way home. Jessie discloses what she’s been up to for the past year, including take a little time off after her father’s passing, getting back into the groove of things, creating new music, and returning to the studio. Since it’s Valentine’s Day the boys of course have to question Jessie about sex and relationships, including a few questions from emails and voicemails that came in. Dustin also has a bitch about Boss Bitch and why the succulent liquid hasn’t touched his lips in a while. The boys close out with 10 questions for Jessie Frye and the great Adele vs Beyonce debate.

Show 195 – We Pour One Out For Robotuner’s Insignificant Podcast

The week started out tough for the boys as they found out their brother-in-arms and fellow podcast buddy decided to pull the plug on his “Insignificant Podcast”. But before a stirring tribute to the late R.I.P, the boys are joined by the great Anthony Sosa from Huffer and the mysterious and often sought after, but never confirmed, Bigfoot. There’s some Super Bowl talk, some Huffer talk, some suppressor talk, some National Park talk, some eclipse talk, and teacher suspension talk. We then do a podcasting first, by playing an entire podcast inside our podcast as we say good by to Robotuner’s Insignificant Podcast and play him a song that would even bring a tear to Paul Walker’s Eye. Finally we dive into a giant bag of emails and talk with Sosa about the Josh Weathers chaos one last time. Thank you to everyone that sent in emails this week, it was highly appreciated.

Keep an eye out on all Huffer happenings here

Show 194 – Squanto Enters The Temple

Squanto

The electronic trip-hop stylings of Rickey Wayne Kinney, aka, Squanto joins us in studio this week. Rickey has been performing and creating under the moniker Squanto for almost 3 years now, and we break down his eccentric-ly fascinating style of music and what got him in to it. We also discuss our little weekend trip to New Orleans, some of the crazy stuff that happened down there, and why we got thrown out of the Dungeon. We received a bunch of emails, so we make our way through them, spouting hot political opinions along the way. Then we tread not so lightly on the Josh Weathers article that the Fort Worth Weekly decided to print, and that ends this show with a bang.

Check out Squanto on Facebook, and pick up his latest album ColorTvDeath on Itunes, Amazon, Spotify.

Flip & The Combined Effort Enter The Temple

IMG_7037

Flip and the Combined Effort swing by One Horn Studios  The Temple of Eye for a conversation with Joe Tacke, Zach Zanetich and myself  the boys. The opening track is Sphere of Living, and I’m glad to have some more Ska on the show. Flip and the Combined Effort is fronted by Felipe (Flip) Rosales who drums for Svenny Baby. As a matter of fact if you take Svenny Baby and add Nikolas Hale, Justin Talamantez and John Gulick on horns. Add Alexis Randolph on drums you have the Combined Effort. We couldn’t fit all those folks in One Horn The Temple Of Eye, so we spoke with Flip, Justin, Nick, and Alexis about all things music, the Women’s march, the inauguration, teaching the kiddos and going home. They have a new album coming out in a few days. So keep on the look out for that. The outro track is called My Trips Home (Are Never a Vacation) Find them here: https://flipandthece.bandcamp.com/releases

Show 192 – Dustin Gets Old With Picnic Lightning

It was a full night in the Temple as 8 guests showed up to watch Dustin grow old right before their eyes and hang out with the fuzzy greatness that is Picnic Lightning. In classic JJTM fashion, it seems that anytime there is some sort of celebration, the room is chaotic and topics bounce from place to place. Yep, this show is no different. Dustin discloses his season as a Cowboys photographer coming to an end, Picnic Lightning gives us a brief history of their band and Dustin’s grandfather-in-law, Richard talks about his show at Division Brewing, Robotuner tries to bring up the Confounded a whole bunch, Jeff let’s us know what U2 album is the best, Stubb’s talks about his secret stash in the woods, and Johnny Trash Pockets reminds us of more great shows at God’s Place. Plus there is bitching about U2 Tickets, Highschool top 10 lists, and Forever Young gets struck with tragedy.

Check out more from Picnic Lightning on their Facebook, or their Webpage.
