Show 206 – Sammy’s Brainhole

Some of you may know Sammy Kidd as the front man of local garage rockers Mean Motor Scooter; others may know him as the man behind Brainhole Tapes; but now we can all refer to him as festival entrepreneur and organizer with the upcoming Brainhole Festival. 30 bands will descend upon one of our favorite watering holes, Lola’s, for three days of great music. The boys talk with Sammy about what it took to put on a 3 day festival like this, what’s in store for the festival, and what’s on the horizon for the entire Brainhole universe. The also talk about the previous weekends Thin Line Festival up in Denton, and this weekends Fortress Fest. It’s festival season boys and girls, and there is a ton of music coming to North Texas! The boys also bring back what is quickly becoming a popular segment, Wal-mart Metal!

Fortress Festival is this weekend, April 29-30 in the Cultural District of Fort Worth. Tickets and info can be found here!

Show 205 – Do For It and Thin Line Fest

Our good friends James and Androo stopped by the Temple to talk all things Do For It Records, Hoof, Shaolin Death Squad and of course this weekend’s Thin Line Festival in Denton Texas. Not only did we talk all things DFI Records related, But James brought a bunch of prizes to give away on the show, but you’ll have to listen to figure out how to win! Androo told some tales of King Diamond and Dave Mustaine, A few voices from the past called into the show, Dustin pinned a letter to the Funkytown Podcast, and The show went really really long. But like always it was worth it!

Show 204 – Looking at Kidneys W/ Jared and the Jewelers

Do to scheduling conflicts, it’s a rare Monday night show this week and the boys are joined by Jared and Frank from Jared and the Jewelers, as well as the JJTM producer from the Austin branch, Jeremie. Like caged animals the show comes unhinged from the get go, and immediately takes a trip down the largest of all rabbit holes. Dustin talks about homeless people assaulting him during a photoshoot, hanging out with Monster Girls at the NASCAR race, there’s gun talk with Matt, a butt sharpie record update, emails and voice mails, and the show is wrapped up with a new bit: Walmart Metal.

Jared and the Jewelers have two big shows this weekend: Friday at the Peppermill Lounge and Saturday at the Doublewide. Be there and check these boys out!

Show 203 – Fortress Festival

This week was a show the boys have been looking forward to for a while because they were joined in the studio by the founders/creators/ideal men behind the upcoming Fortress Festival. Alec and Ramtin came from the movie festival world and wanted to build a destination music festival in the Fort Worth Arts District. They fill the boys in on the behind the scenes working of putting together a festival like this, why they wanted to do it, and how much work and stress go into building an event of this magnitude. They also answer a bunch of the questions that you listeners have been asking the boys over the last few weeks. The inaugural Fortress Festival takes place April 29th-30th in Fort Worth. Show 202 – The We-Thanks

This week the Marlin, Ray, and Trashpockets of the Me-Thinks hung out with the boys and there really isn’t much more to say then that. So many things were discussed and thrown around including a pretty fun game that allows you to get the know the Me-Thinks a little better. Maybe even better then you should!
